Strong Family History
Pearce Phelan came to Canada from Tipperary Ireland in the 1830's and settled in Kingscote, Grey County, Ontario. He cleared some forest and began farming on the land where his great-grandson Arthur still farms today.
Pearce's three sons are pictured here in a photo taken in the 1880's.
Patrick (centre) remained on the Phelan farm while brothers Michael and William travelled west to Montana where they raised cattle and horses on the ranch lands west of Missoula.
Patrick's grandson Hubert opened Phelan Brothers Electrical Distributors in Bolton, Ontario in 1976 and was later joined by sons Howard and Tony.
Today Phelan Brothers Electromec operates on a global scale and is proud to be a leading importer and distributor of electric motors and controls for farm and industry.
